book review: Bittersweet in the Hollow by Kate Pearsall

book review: Bittersweet in the Hollow by Kate Pearsall

If you're a fan of Practical Magic I think you will thoroughly enjoy this book.   I'm very much looking forward to the second in the series, Lies on the Serpent's Tongue that releases in January.

Set in the mountains of West Virginia resides a family with special abilities. But we won't call them witches.  The main character has the ability to taste what other people are feeling.  I was captivated by the descriptions of what each feeling tastes like.  Can you imagine what fear or even sadness would taste like?  I was left craving buttermilk biscuits and lemon bars.

Murder, missing people, and the legend of the the Moth Winged-Man (as he is known in the area).  I feel like the author tapped into everything related to growing up in the hills and hollows of West Virginia.   It also left me feeling a bit homesick as I am originally from West Virginia.

I'm not sure why this is classified as young adult but in my opinion it is definitely worth the read.
